Under the patronage of his Excellency, the Minister of Labor of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Samir Murad, and in the presence of guests of honor, the President of the Tax Free World Association (TFWA), Mr. Erik Juul-Mortensen, and the President of the Duty Free World Council (DFWC), Mr. Frank O’Connell; the Jordanian Duty Free Shops (JDFS) and in cooperation with Ammon Applied University College (AAUC) celebrated the launching of the training diploma program in “Trade & Travel Retail Management”.

During the event that was held on Thursday July 26, 2018, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the JDFS represented by Mr. Haitham Al-Majali, and Mr. Nadim Al-Mu’asher the chairman of the Jordanian Hospitality and Tourism Education Company, representing the AAUC, to announce the beginning of the training diploma. This Diploma is set to focus on a variety of thoroughly chosen topics to enable the graduates to operate efficiently and effectively in a highly dynamic competitive environment in the fields of public trade and travel retail, as well as duty free business.

In his pursuit and continuous efforts to enhance the level of the industry in the MEA region, Mr. Majali, the President of the Middle East and Africa Duty Free Association, expressed: “We are 100% positive that with our combined efforts, the diploma will grow nationally and internationally, affecting thousands of industry colleagues from the retail sector, trade and travel retail, all set to enhance and improve their knowledge and skills, and be a huge leap in the field of trade and travel retail business.

“We are delighted to be part of this event, and to witness the launching of this Diploma, that I trust will focus on increase efficiency of enhancing the knowledge, skills and capabilities of the participants coming from different Retail companies and organizations from Jordan and the region, as we look very much forward to seeing the outcomes of those efforts and reflect it in the benefit of the industry” Mr. Erik Juul-Mortensen added.
